W.A.R.M.
W.A.R.M. stands for wellness, academics, resilience, and mindfulness. It is another way Touro University California supports our students. W.A.R.M. is a student initiative that is both student-led and staff-supported. The program hopes to promote work-life balance, self-care, and prevent burnout among students. Some previous W.A.R.M. projects include; local hikes, HIIT & dance classes, meditation, paint & tea night, and more.
If you are interested in creating a wellness plan, learning more about W.A.R.M., or have an activity that you would like to promote, reach out to:
COM students, please contact Karmina Honciano at khoncian@touro.edu
Tutoring
Whether you are a new student or a returning one, tutoring services are available to students desiring to improve their academic performance. We offer both one-on-one tutoring and drop-in tutoring in the study halls.
If you are interested in becoming a peer tutor, please reach out to us. Peer tutoring is a federal work-study position and open to students in good academic standing who are eligible for financial aid.
If you are interested in receiving peer tutoring services, please fill out the Tutor Request Form on the intranet and send it to Kiran at kkaur@touro.edu. Most students are matched with a tutor within a week.
Disability Services
It is the policy of Touro University California to ensure that no qualified student with a disability is excluded from participation in or, subjected to discrimination in any University facility, program, activity, or event.
The University is committed to granting reasonable accommodations to students with documented disabilities. Policies and procedures must ensure that students with a disability will not, on the basis of that disability, be denied full and equal access to academic and co-curricular programs or activities or otherwise be subjected to discrimination under programs offered by the University.
Reasonable Accommodation
The rights of students with disabilities are protected under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA).
An application for accommodation of a disability (available in the Touro One portal) must be made by the student. Verbal disclosure prior to or following admission is not sufficient. Students may apply for special accommodations anytime during their academic curriculum, however, if granted, the accommodation is given only for the academic year in which it is requested.
Although students can apply for accommodations at any time during their academic program, it is strongly advised that if you are seeking accommodations, you submit your application and all required documentation well in advance.
Please reach out to our dedicated Accommodations team for more information at tuc.accommodations@touro.edu.
Accommodations
The following is a list of accommodations that may be provided, given the student has provided the appropriate documentation:
- extra time on timed examinations and/or quizzes
- extra time on in-class assignments
- provisions to take examinations and/or quizzes in a quiet, separate room
- tape recording of lectures
- note taker services
- front-row access in classes with assigned seating
- other accommodations will be considered as presented.
Students who are in need of diagnostic testing or the need to provide current documentation should meet with the Learning Specialist. Information on testing can be obtained through this office. The cost of testing and assessments is the student's responsibility.
Details for the policies and procedures for determination of the accommodations, necessary documentation, appeals, and regarding the privacy of records are available in the Student Handbook, available online through the University website, and available in hard copy in major offices as well as the library.
Study Spaces
Having a quiet, comfortable space to study and work is something we recognize as being valuable for all students.
As such, Touro provides a number of study spaces that are available for reservation in the library. When safe to do so and in accordance with all applicable public health guidelines, spaces may also be reserved for group study sessions.
Currently, the library offers for reservation:
- 10 study rooms
- 4 study carrels
- 6 standing desks
- 42 tables
Reservations may be made up to one week in advance. Up to 4 hours can be reserved per day, but each hour must be reserved separately. Your TUC email is required to make reservations.
All study spaces are limited to 1 person. No group study is allowed at this time.
Use of a study space requires continuous occupancy. Items left unattended at a study space for 15 minutes or more may be removed by a Library staff member so that the space can be used by other students. Items removed from a study room by a library staff member can be claimed at the Library circulation desk.
