Campus Leader Honored with Leadership Award

“This recognition holds profound significance for me, not only as an individual but also as an alumna who has had the privilege of calling Touro home for the past 15 years,” says Hendriksz.

“Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving in various roles within our institution, each one presenting new challenges and opportunities for growth, from my early days as a student to my current position,” she adds. “I have been guided by a deep commitment to our mission and a passion for making a difference in the lives of our students and community.”

The award comes from the Touro College Women’s Leadership Council, with member Gena Bardwell describing a few of the reasons for Hendriksz winning the award by quoting some of the members of the panel:

“Mentors such as Hendriksz are not only invaluable and hard to find, but they are truly immeasurable for their impact on our personal and professional growth.”

“Even in her very important role she is clear, concise, and always kind, extremely efficient and practical and balances all of this with humility and grace.”

Hendriksz is credited with many accomplishments, including helping to expand the COM program this year by 50 students, with two additional achievements mentioned: supporting and bolstering resources which provided an opportunity for our students to become certified in suicide prevention counseling through the QPR Institute; and the creation of the student health advisory committee to improve wellness for students on campus.

Bardwell described the award as being given to women who have made contributions in academia, community service, mentorship, and education. Hendriksz was recognized for her exemplary leadership as both Dean of COM and the Interim Chief Academic Officer of TUC.

“This award is a testament to the collective efforts of our community to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion within our institution. It serves as a reminder of the importance of amplifying the voices of women in leadership positions and creating opportunities for growth and advancement,” says Hendriksz.
