College of Pharmacy appoints new Dean

From interim to permanent: announcing Dr. Catherine Cone as Dean of the College of Pharmacy.

After serving as Interim Dean of the Touro University California College of Pharmacy for the past nine months, TUC is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Catherine Cone as Dean of the College of Pharmacy

During her time as Interim Dean, Dr. Cone led several key initiatives, including bolstering North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) preparation, innovating enrollment strategies, and building alumni and external partnerships. Dr. Cone has already made a measurable impact on the College’s trajectory through her exceptional leadership, strategic foresight, and a deep commitment to student and faculty success.

Tami Hendriksz, Campus Provost, CAO, and Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, had only praise for Dr. Cone as she steps into her new role. 

"Dr. Catherine Cone brings a deep commitment to student success and academic excellence. Her leadership is grounded in both vision and compassion, and I’m confident that under her guidance, the College of Pharmacy will thrive,” said Dr. Hendriksz. “Dr. Cone’s appointment is a significant moment for our campus, and I look forward to the innovation, collaboration, and momentum she will bring in this role."

Dr. Cone brings over 25 years of experience in pharmacy education, practice, and leadership. Her career includes clinical and academic roles at the University of New Mexico, Roseman University of Health Sciences, and Touro University California, where she most recently served as Associate Dean of Assessment. Her dedication to fostering critical thinking and enhancing student assessment has earned her national academic recognition through numerous publications and presentations.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be named Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Touro University California. This college has a strong foundation built by dedicated faculty, staff, students, and alumni, and I’m excited to continue that legacy while leading us into the next chapter,” said Dr. Catherine Cone. “My focus will be on student success, academic innovation, and expanding community and alumni partnerships. Together, we’ll work to ensure our graduates are well-prepared for the evolving pharmacy and healthcare landscape and equipped to lead with compassion and integrity.”
