First Year Students Receive Vave Ultrasound

This is the second year of equipping new TUCOM students with state-of-the-art technology. By introducing point-of-care ultrasound education in their first year at TUC, students are ensured to gain real-time insight into anatomy and physiology, and reinforce classroom learning with practical applications. This approach reflects the college’s commitment to preparing future physicians with technology that is not only shaping modern healthcare but will contribute to a higher quality of care. 

The integration of Vave’s portable ultrasound devices across the curriculum gives students the ability to practice diagnostic imaging early in their training - an experience that builds clinical competence and ultrasound knowledge before entering rotations. 

Dr. Tami Hendriksz, Campus Provost, CAO, and Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, addressed the entire room of Osteopathic students, “You’re among a generation of physicians who will not only listen to your patients and examine them, but you’ll also look within, guided by science, image, and compassion.” 

Highlighting the importance of this day, Dr. Hendriksz continued, “Also, you’re becoming leaders in the field. As handheld ultrasound becomes an essential part of modern medicine, your peers, colleagues, and even your attending physicians will look to you for guidance and education on how to use this technology effectively and with efficacy.”
