The Fabric of Our Community
Mosaic Gala 2024 Lamplighter Sponsor Kaiser Permanente believes in equity and inclusion for all.
Throughout Kaiser Permanente’s 77 years, their mission, values, and people have defined what they do, how they do it, and who they are as an organization. This identity is based on respecting and representing the diverse communities they serve, and a shared responsibility to move beyond simply valuing diversity and inclusion to actively building a more equitable future.
Together, Kaiser Permanente and Touro University have partnered throughout the years to cultivate a more diverse and equitable health care system by creating a pipeline of diverse students and health care professionals through scholarships, mentoring and internships.
“Diversity in healthcare isn't just about representation; it's about improving the quality of care, addressing health disparities, and fostering an environment where all patients and providers can thrive,” said Darryl Curry, Senior Vice President and Area Manager for Kaiser Permanente in the Napa-Solano Area. “We know that diverse healthcare teams bring a variety of perspectives and experiences, which can lead to more comprehensive and personalized care.
Among Kaiser Permanente’s accolades for their commitment to equity and inclusion include being named to Diversity Inc.’s Top 50 Hall of Fame, as well as a Best Place to Work by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
The fabric of equity and inclusion is woven throughout all levels of the organization. The physicians lead and oversee planning and implementation of programs for employees and members, and staff are encouraged to participate in Business Resource Groups that provide a space to come together to support, celebrate and inspire interests and diverse backgrounds.
“Embracing each person’s unique perspective and experience allows us to work together to solve complex problems and achieve our mission,” said Curry. “And creating an inclusive workplace where we all feel we belong helps us deliver equitable care and outcomes for our patients, members, and communities.”
Kaiser Permanente and their partnerships help to ensure visibility, accountability, and systemic and institutional change in the communities they serve.
