Biography
Terrye Moore-Harper obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Tuskegee University and was commissioned in the US Army Nurse Corps for seven years in the areas of Med-Tele, Trauma, and the US Army's Institute of Surgical Research and Burn Unit. After leaving the Army in 1994, she pursued her Master of Science in Nursing at Valparaiso University (Indiana) in Adult Health and Diabetes Management. In 2017, Terrye received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Duke University with a focus on African Americans and Diabetes Management. Terrye is also a board-certified Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Health with a focus on Diabetes Management. She is also a life coach with the National Diabetes Prevention Program. Terrye joined the Touro University California School of Nursing family in November 2014 and considered herself "finally home." Terrye was promoted to Associate Professor in 2019 and in May 2020, Terrye became the Interim Assistant Dean and Director of the School of Nursing. She has led two accreditation surveys and opened a Family Nurse Practitioner Program for TUC. Terrye currently serves on Faculty Senate, Intramural Research Award Program (IRAP), and Rank and Promotion Committees. She is also a Co-Researcher of a 3-year/$300,000 grant from the NIH, where the team will compare the clinical outcomes of a 2-arm study using the traditional diabetes prevention program (DPP) curriculum/diet to a modified (low-carb) diabetes curriculum/diet in adults with prediabetes.
